Today was supposed to be much windier than yesterday but with heavy rain to come in sometime in the afternoon. Again it was supposed to be SE so I went for Hill Head, and early. It was blowing old boots all the way down to the coast (and raining from time to time) but dropped off as I was rigging. Those who had been out had been planing on 6 metre sails so I went for a 6.5 which proved to be just about enough for the first half hour. Then it picked up and before long I was hugely overpowered. The wind was actually south. There was plenty of slop/chop to bounce off. I changed to a 5.5 but the wind dropped off a tad. But I'd given up chasing the wind and settled for the 5.5 for the rest of the day with the wind sometimes up and sometimes down and increasingly swinging SW as the tide dropped making for some fun running along the wave tops parallel to the shore. On the plus side the rain never did come in other than the odd shower, but by mid afternoon the wind was a bit feeble so I called it a day. A pretty good day all in all after a couple of days when the wind didn't materialise.
